Letter Writing Guidelines

LETTERS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 10, 2017

  LETTER WRITING GUIDELINES………

What things should be included in my letter?

The children love to hear about you and your family.  Share about the things that you like to do and the places you like to go but keep in mind that the children don’t understand the concept of a vacation.  Be sensitive not to mention your material possessions or money.

The children pray for you and your family on a daily basis.  Let your sponsored child know that you are praying for them as well.  Send verses that might encourage them.  Talk to them about what Jesus is teaching you.

Decorate your letter with stickers or clip art from your computer.  Send a postcard from the town that you live in or from a place like Yosemite or SF.

Send photos of your family keeping in mind that the culture is very modest.  Please do not send photos showing cleavage, tube tops, short shorts etc.

Print or type your letter.  The children cannot read cursive.

Put your child’s name and your name on the outside of the envelope or on the letter itself.  DO NOT put your address or that of Cornerstone anywhere on the letter or envelope. You may also email me your letter or leave it at the Info Counter at Cornerstone Livermore campus. If you choose to email it please be sure to put the child’s full name at the top of the letter.

Including a bookmark, stickers, journal, pens or pencils is fine but no other gifts, please.

If you would like to send a Bible to the child you sponsor please include an additional $10 with your monthly payment (or simply send us $10) and our staff will purchase a Bible in Kenya. They will put your child’s name as well as your name on the inside cover.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at lmahoney@cornerstoneweb.org. You will always be notified at least 6 weeks before letters are due.

Thanks you for making a difference in a child’s life and for your faithfulness as a child sponsor.

Blessings,

Linda Mahoney
